Scog

Domestic

Lifespan: 50-60 years

Height: 4'5'' to 5'5''

Weight: 70 to 150 lbs.

Description:

Domestic scogs are considered to be the more docile of the Scog race, and are marked by their smaller size and subtle fur markings.

Common colors include gray, brown, black, tan, orange, calico, and occassionally white.

Males and females will mate for life around the age of 15 and will have between two to five kits.

Tora falls within this breed.

History:

Scogs are the oldest living race on Tamasuade, but when other races were introduced, a portion of the scogs integrated themselves into society.

Originally a smaller clan, these scogs grew softer and gentler. That isnt to say that they did not retain their quick reflexes and claws, but compared to their brethren who remained in the wild, they are ill-matched.

In recent years these people have been shunned from society, being blamed for the plague that wiped most of Tamasuade's population. Now living back in the wild, their numbers are dwindling. They fall prey to larger species such as spidren, eagles, and the dirus.

They keep to small family groups, hiding in deep forests. They build homes in trees, but can also live in cottages or smaller "outcast" villages.

Ra'dri

Lifespan: 20 to 40 years

Height: 6'0'' to 7'0''

Weight: 180 to 280 lbs.

Description:

The Ra'dri are considered the beasts of the scog race, and are more feral than the domestic breed.

The Ra'dri are large creatures, usually towering over even the tallest humans. Their quick reflexes and incredible strength add to their threatening demeanor, and it is said they are quick to anger. However, they are rarely seen by civil society, so the stories of their terrible prowess on human flesh is not entirely justified.

Taking the characteristics of bigger felines, the Ra'dri are varied in color and muscle build. Lions, orange and white tigers, cheetahs, puma, and the jaguar are just a few of the groupings--and they often do not mingle. In this way they are extremely territorial creatures.

They die earlier than their domestic counterparts, especially the males. This is often due to body stress or fighting--usually by their early twenty's. The females will often last until their late thirty's, when birthing new cubs becomes difficult.

Most live in large prides in southern Tamasuade, preying on large game. They are solely carnivorous and hunt their prey with a mixture of claws and primitive weaponry. Depending on the grouping, the females do a great deal of the hunting. Mates are not typically chosen for life, but is done on an alpha male pretext around their 15th year. Females usually bear between five and seven cubs in their lifetime.

History:

While the domestic scogs decided to join civil society during the introduction of humans, the Ra'dri remained in the wild. They cut ties from their cousins during this time, and they rarely get along with each other at present. If they ever meet in the wild there are often tense feelings, and the threat of territorial fights.

This breed is actually named for the original clan. The first group of scogs were named the Ra'dri--long before any other species came to Tamasuade. Since, there are now many different subgroups within the Ra'dri, and they do not categorize themselves as the same. For instance, the Lavi (see above image) are a lion-characteristic group who now live in the great plains in enormous prides.

However, for civil society's purposes, any "wild" scog is considered to be a "Ra'dri." Needless to say, the Ra'dri and society do not see eye to eye, and they maintain great portions of their land--regardless of human (or even elven) rule. Still, there have been past battles, and the threat for more as hostilities between humans and scogs does not resolve.
